Wigram's HEART Values

At Wigram, we have five values which make up the word 'heart'.

H = Haoura
E = Explore
A = Aspire
R = Respect
T = Taonga

Every two weeks, we are given the task of creating a wall display in our learning spaces. The first week we had to create something to represent the value of Taonga.
Since the students are what make up our team and are our taonga, we decided to create a wall display of self-portraits.

The next value to focus on was 'Aspire'. We need to aspire to do great things and make an effort to reach our goals. Each of us came up with a learning goal - something to focus on for this term. We wrote them into a wee star and decorated the front of it with our names.

We also created a digital poster of us reaching our goals - these can be found on our individual blogs.

Our next value we will be looking at is 'Explore'.

Watch this space for our next wall display!

  1. Hi Ruru team, we love your pretty art work. We like you thought about your school values in your art work. It reminded us of a Matariki star. Maybe you could include some instructions so that other children can make their own stars. From Lockhart Class at Hay Park.

  6. Hi Ruru Class, My name is Mahrosh and I am from Hay park school. I really like your portraits and your goals. Your portraits reminded me of when my class was making portraits, your goals reminded me of when we made flowers to write our goal on it. next time maybe you could write down how you could achieve your goals.

  7. Hi Ruru, Miss Muriel from Toroa learning space here. I love the self portraits for Taonga, when we visited your class for your mini exhibition I was really blown away by your display. Before going to Teachers College I went to Art School and majored in painting, so was a fan instantly. When I visited your class it reminded me of being in a beautiful Art Gallery. Keep up the great work :)
